The South African Tour - 2007
It all started with Nelson Mandela reading the golf magazines, and he invited us over. At the same time, 'Phoneman' Dolce happened to be 60, and so the Wild Drivers & spouses flew into Cape Town to enjoy the start of the summer season in this part of the southern hemisphere. The Wild Drivers were on their best behaviour this trip, no gallons of Guinness to see them on their fairway trips, but they sure did enjoy themselves. Simon's Town, Cape of Good Hope, Chapmans Peak, the wine regions around Stellanbosch, Robben Island, the V & A malls on the waterfront - just outstanding. Milnerton Golf Club was magnificient, running alongside the sea, with Table Mountain in the background, and provided the perfect backdrop to start the trip off. The 'Lady Drivers' were hittin' the ball straight, and with all the duckin' & divin', the scorecards revealed that Lord Ogmore of Chicago had won, with Nelson himself there to present the Seth Afrika Cup! He was there! He was! The Wild Drivers & other halves went to the final of the one day cricket at Newlands between Seth Afrika & New Zealand. Seth Afrika won. Gibbsy scored a century. Great food, great prices, and as usual, the Wild Drivers were mobbed wherever they went. The fish was just stunning. Calamari, King Klip, Mussell Cracker. We tried them all.
And - by the way - the music is Dutch Afrikaner. Zie De Maan Schijnt Door De Bowen. Thought you'd want to know that.
Now - look at the pictures!!!!!!!!!
